Beautiful two layered set by Peter Rose of New York. The exterior of the box is reinforced with a brass surround and the top has a brass carrying handle. There is a key which is partially broken but still works the lock properly. The interior of the set is lined in beautiful rich blue velvet and the upper compartment is lined in green cord. The upper compartment holds a serrated saw which was fabricated to prevent clogging with bone particles. There is a small rongeur and pickup forcep missing. The lower compartment has a sticker with 72 William St as an address. The tourniquet and all other instruments are marked with the makers name. Circa 1829 - 1830.
