Beautiful four layered ivory handled set by Tiemann of New York. The divider is marked with a label from Codman & Shurtleff at their 13 Tremont address. They worked from this address from 1858 until 1871 and were probably resellers for Tiemann after the war. The instruments are in pristine condition and marked Tiemann. The Ivory handled saw is of the smaller Parker "D" style made by Tiemann from 1859-1860 thus this set is probably from just before the civil war but was sold during the war or just after by resellers Codman & Shurtleff. Circa 1858 - 1860.
