Folding red leather set with working latch. The makers label is inside the case and is identified as J.P. Brown surgical instrument and truss maker. Mr. Brown was located in Baltimore at 9 Sharp St. and was in business from 1821 -1824. The tortoiseshell folding instruments are marked Brown as well as the tongue retractor. Circa 1823.
