Beautiful brass bound set by Peter Rose. The set is secured by two brass swing latches on the front. The interior is lined in purple velvet and contains a nearly complete set of amputation instruments. The knives are heavy with rounded ends typical of the early style. There is a label in the floor of the lower compartment with an address of 18 William St. which is not one of the addresses on William street listed in Edmunson. Peter Rose was in business from 1822 - 1845.
