A beautiful presentation set by Fenton of Ohio. The set is nearly complete missing only a trephine handle and a rongeur.
Fenton was in Cleveland from 1865 - 1886. Prior to that, he was in Columbus for the years 1845 - 1864.
This set according to the inscription on the brass cartouche was presented to Wallace W. Holliday, professor of medical jurisprudence at Western Reserve Univ. of Cleveland on Feb 24th, 1875. Dr. Holliday was one of the most prominent medical practitioners of Cleveland. He died in 1914 after a stomach operation at Lakeside Hospital. He was 61 at the time of his death. Circa 1875.
