Partial dissecting set by Gemrig of Phil, Penn. The box is secured with two small swing latches in the front. Top layer holds a scissor and the lower layer has four checkered ivory handled scalpels and tenaculums. There are two missing. The lower layer has a Gemrig label which is black and gold and reads J.H.Gemrig 109 Sth 8th St. Edmunson lists this address as between 1866 and 1880. The inside of the box is inscribed with the name Thomas R. Neilson Philad. 9/12 1877. There is also a medicine scoop director in the lower layer. circa 1877.
